How To Photograph A Puffy Coat

Winter is just around the corner — if you're in New York, you know that you can't escape wearing a down jacket to keep warm while running around town. After the jump there are some simple tips that will help you photograph your puffy coat for your Stylebook closet.

  1. Arrange the coat while it's hanging up on a hanger. This will make it easy to give the coat some shape. (I have a waist length coat with a large pillow-like collar and if I lay it on the floor it looks like a blob, so this hanger trick is perfect. )
  2. Leave the coat on the hanger and carefully take it off the rack or hook.
  3. Lay the two down on your backdrop while being careful not disturb how it's arranged
  4. Wiggle the hanger out of the coat and it should be arranged just as if it was hanging up in the closet
  5. Straighten the sleeves
  6. Narrow the waist just a little
  7. Snap the photo and you're done!

  1. Nice concept to take a photography. Hanging this coat on a hanger will allow you to click some snaps in a easy way. Even placing the coat on a bed and taking some clicks would look good too.
