Transferring Data Between Your iPhone and iPad

Use Stylebook's Wifi Share feature to transfer clothing, inspiration and even entire outfits between devices. You can transfer many items at once, or choose one at a time to send to other devices. Here's how to do it:

Transferring Clothing, Inspiration and Outfits Between Devices
  1. First, make sure both devices have their wi-fi turned on and are on the same wi-fi network. You can check this in the Settings app on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.
  2. Next, get the receiving device ready:
    • If it's an iPad:
      1. Tap "Wifi Accept" in the lefthand navbar
      2. Tap "Start Accepting"
    • If it's an iPhone
      1. Open the home grid
      2. Tap "Wifi Accept"
  3. Now, move to the phone that will be sending items:
    • To transfer one item:
      1. Open the item
      2. Tap the action arrow in the bottom right
      3. Tap "Share via Wifi"
    • To transfer multiple items:
      1. Open the category containing your items
      2. Tap "Edit"
      3. Tap each item you want to transfer
      4. Tap the action arrow in the bottom toolbar
      5. Tap "Share via Wifi"
    • To transfer all items in a category:
      1. Open the category containing your items
      2. Tap "Edit"
      3. Tap the "All" button
      4. Tap the action arrow in the bottom toolbar
      5. Tap "Share via Wifi"
  4. You'll now see a list of other Stylebook devices on your network that are ready to accept items. Tap the device you want to send your data to.
  5. On the receiving device, you'll be asked if you want to accept the items. Tap "Accept."
  6. Leave both devices alone until the transfer is complete - you'll see a countdown as items are transferred over the wireless network.
  7. The receiving device will show you a list of the items you've just received. Stylebook will try to auto-categorize the items, but if you want to override any of the selections or if any of the items have no category, simply tap the item and pick a category.
  8. If every item has a category assigned to it, you can just tap the "Save" button.
  9. When you see a message that says "Saved!" on the screen, you're done! The items have now been saved onto your other device.

Troubleshooting - What to Do if Wifi Share Isn't Working
  • Other Device Not in Accept Mode: If you don't see the receiving device in the list of devices, make sure the receiving device is in accept mode (follow step 2 above).
  • Public networks: Wifi Share works on most wifi networks, but rarely, some public wifi networks (like those found in some coffee shops, libraries, colleges or hotels) will have security measures in place that have the side effect of preventing Stylebook devices from seeing each other. These networks are configured this way because your computer and phone will be on a network with strangers, and the network tries to prevent unwanted communication between devices. Unfortunately, if this is the case, Stylebook devices won't be able to see each other. If both of your devices have wi-fi turned on and are on the same network, but no devices appear in the device list, you may be on a locked network. Try doing the transfer on your home wifi network. If you're experiencing this problem on your home network or mi-fi network, you may need to contact your Internet provider to change the way your network is configured.

Other Tips
  • Duplicate Checks: Wifi Share will never create duplicates, so if you've added a lot of items in one category, but don't want to track down each new item one by one, you can simply send the entire category to the other device. If the receiving device has any of those original items, they'll simply be skipped.
  • Auto-categorization: Stylebook does its best to place items in the right category. If you send an item that was in the "Heels" category on the sending device, the receiving device will check to see if it has a category of the same name. If it does, it will automatically save the item to the "Heels" category. This can save you tons of time when sending lots of items - just ensure that the receiving phone has the same categories as the sending phone, and you won't have to do any categorization at all when the items are received.
  • Other Screens: You can also send items from the thumbnail grids in packing lists and Style Stats.
  • Outfit Components: If you send outfits over Wifi Share, Stylebook will automatically include any of the clothing and inspiration used in that outfit.
  • Sharing with Friends: Wifi Share isn't just for keeping your own devices in sync - you can use it to transfer clothing, inspiration and entire looks to friends who have Stylebook.
  • Syncing between devices: Fully automatic syncing between devices is a popular request. While Stylebook doesn't yet support fully automatic syncing, Wifi Share is a great way to keep your devices up-to-date with each other!
  • Photo Resolution: If you have an iPad and an iPhone, try taking the photos on the iPad first and then sending them to your iPhone, rather than the other way around. The iPad photos will be high-resolution enough that they'll look great on both devices.
TIME SAVER: If you're about to transfer a large number of items between two devices, it can take some time to go through and choose a category for each item. Save time by first creating categories with the same name on the receiving device. Then, when you send the items over, the auto-categorization feature will be able to find the right home for every item without any work on your part!
